Camp Mowana Facilities

With four major lodges available during our retreat season, Mowana is able to accomodate large and small groups alike with a variety of options. If you'd like to schedule a retreat, our staff can assist in planning or running portions, or you may wish to rent our facilities for your group's function or event. For more information about any of our lodges, click on the appropriate link on the right columns.

In addition to these lodges, Mowana has 24 cabins for use during our summer camp program, as well as a swimming pool, a craft cabin with back deck, a large barn with sheep and rabbits, several outdoor chapels, many low-ropes course elements, a covered pavilion, two showerhouses, and a basketball court.

Mowana maintains quite a few hiking trails on our 183 acre property, including the recently-opened Ridge Trail leading from the Fleming Falls Retreat Center to Mohican Lodge. Campfire sites and outdoor worship spaces are available near each lodge.

Our newest building is the Junior Hill Shower House, completed in 2006. With 10 shower stalls and plenty of hot water, this building is ushering in a whole new era of personal hygiene for summer campers. We are now raising funds for a new Inter Hill shower house. Of course, donations for this ambitious project will be gladly accepted.

Recently opened, the Fleming Falls Retreat Center is air conditioned and heated for year-round use. With many rooms and a large meeting space, Mohican is tucked back further on our property with everything on one level.

Oneida serves as the dining hall for summer camp and larger groups, but also has many rooms upstairs available. Our main lodge has a performance stage, large fireplace, rooms for staying overnight, and space to seat 100 people.

Craft Cabin & Deck

Originally the dining hall at Camp LuBoCa on Lake Erie (Mowana's forerunner), the Craft Cabin (pictured to the left of the Nature Cabin) now houses string & gimp, clay, fabric, markers, and a large assortment of other fun and crazy crafts. The back deck is ideal for large groups to meet outside, with long benches and counters for workspace.

Barn

Our large red Civil-War-era barn houses sheep, chinchillas, kittens, rabbits, and the occasional llama. Help feed the animals daily, come pet and play with the smaller critters, or learn more about the special creatures God has created on our Earth.

Swimming Pool

Most campers can't get enough of the pool in the summer months! You'll find foam noodles, basketball hoops, squirtguns and diving bricks, and lots of happy kids in our "big blue bathtub," our lifeguards are certified by the American Red Cross.

Cabins

Although not fancy, our beloved cabins have developed reputations and stories over the years. Many campers will fondly remember their cabin groups and unique cabin traditions. Most cabins house between 8-12 campers and one counselor.

Low Ropes Course

With many different challenge course elements in our pine forest, we can take several small groups to team building excercises. Camp favorites include The Islands, The Wall, and The Spider Web.

Outdoor Chapels

With several outdoor chapels and firepits around our campgrounds, groups have the flexibility to pick sites based on specific criteria. Over the summer months our popular Candlelight Service on Thursday night takes place in our main outdoor chapel.

Scenic Areas

Camp Mowana is known for the famous Fleming Falls (pictured left) and a handful of other gorgeous sights! Hike our trails, identify plant and animal species, and discover the true beauty of our 183 acres.
