Camp Mowana Testimonials

Sometimes the best way to describe a camp or its impact is to read about how it has affected campers over the years. Camp Mowana has seen thousands of campers over its more than 65-year lifespan; here are just a few testimonials from campers and parents. If you would like to add some comments, please e-mail the camp office.

"I have been connected to Camp Mowana in 3 distinct ways. I am a mom whose kids have enjoyed a week each year at camp Mowana, a volunteer who does Discovery time with groups of kids for a week at camp and also as a lay leader of a congregation who financially supports kids from our congregation – sending up to as many as 26 kids to camp each year.

As a mom, Camp Mowana has provided my children with a safe, fun, Christian environment that they look forward to going to every year. My one son has special needs that require extensive dietary modifications as well as helping him be a part of camp life as he deals with physical challenges. There has never been one moment my son has felt left out, or unable to participate in some activity. The staff goes above and beyond to make sure he is experiencing every aspect of camp life, while at the same time, attending to every need he has. I am totally confident in their ability to care for him while at camp.

As a volunteer, I have witnessed the love of Christ as seen in the faces of every person connected with a child’s (or volunteer’s) time at camp. What an amazing gift for kids to see and know college age kids – counselors they look up to and have fun with – as people strong in their commitment to Christ. Not only is camp a fun, fun place, full of activities, crafts, games, swimming, singing and time to learn about yourself and God’s love, but it is a place to find out what it means to be part of a community of believers. What a blessing to have them see more than just the people they know well as caring, loving, Christ – centered people. A Camp Mowana experience plants seeds in their hearts that will continue to blossom and grow throughout their lives.

When we come home after a week at camp, we find that it takes us a while to “let go” of being at camp and return to our regular routines. We want to sing the songs, reminisce and hold onto the experience. We all look forward to the next year with a special feeling, knowing that when we turn into the driveway of camp, we’ve returned to a very special place that truly has hold of our hearts."
